QR COVE GUIDES
How to make a Wi-Fi QR code
Start with a guest network
A Wi-Fi QR code stores the network name, security type and password. Compatible phones offer to join after scanning. Use a dedicated guest network for visitors at a café, hotel, office or home. Anyone who can scan the code can extract its password; the QR code is a convenient label, not encryption or an access-control system.
Create and check the code
Open the Wi-Fi tool. Enter the network name exactly, including spaces and capital letters. Select the security option matching your router and enter the password. Keep a dark foreground on a light background. Download PNG for a small digital sign or SVG for a print layout. Scan the result with both an iPhone and an Android phone, then confirm that the device actually connects to the intended network.
Place it where visitors need it
Put a readable card at reception or near a table rather than on a curved or reflective surface. Leave the blank margin intact. Include the network name and short written instructions for visitors whose camera does not recognize Wi-Fi codes. Hotel networks with a separate sign-in page may still require a browser login after connection.
When the password changes
The code contains the old credentials until you generate another one. Update the QR card whenever the network name or password changes and remove old signs. Do not reuse a private staff-network password for a public guest sign.
